More about Christene

With over 20 years of touring under her belt, over a dozen countries invited to perform in, and over thousands of CDs sold, Award-winning Songwriter Christene LeDoux is the real deal―a Troubador in the truest sense of the word.

A jack of all trades before music found her, Christene did everything from fueling airplanes at the Grand Canyon to writing sports in Flagstaff, Arizona. She worked in real estate and professionally photographed skiers in Vail, Colorado, worked with huskies in Alaska, was a clown & children’s party planner, opened & owned a dog-walking business, was a professional nanny, and in a small factory in rural America, she fell into building lipstick holders. That's just the tip of the ice burg, so we'll stop there.

Born in Connecticut and living everywhere from California to Arizona, Alaska to Vail, Colorado, Nashville to Austin, London to Sweden, in the campgrounds of the US in her Airstream, and now with her Austrian husband and daughter in the alps of Austria, Christene LeDoux's life was made for songwriting.
This lifetime of unique trades and travel all before she even picked up a guitar, would set the stage for what would become the Christene LeDoux we know today, and lucky us!

Christene's debut release, 'Little Lighthouse' (2003) raked in an impressive list of songwriting awards and accolades, major label tour requests at home and abroad, TV & Film placement, International radio airplay, and steady sales. Her follow-up, 'Dust 'n' Branches, Songs From a Wanderer' (2008) doing more of the same, continues to garner attention and rave reviews.

Watching American-born Songwriter, Christene LeDoux perform live is like spending time with your closest friend. Her ease with her audience is alarming. Her stories both funny and tragic, and just when you think you know where it's going, she takes you from tears to laughter in a matter of minutes.

Art Jefferson of San Francisco Art Magazine put it best when he wrote, "To call LeDoux a storyteller is to understate her skills. She is an artist creating exquisite imagery through song. Her entire performance was pure art, her voice of angelic purity. Through every song the crowd was entranced, the aura of their love and appreciation a palpable presence in the club. This is what the experience of music is all about."

QUOTES

"If the toast catches fire behind you, you’ll stoically let the house crumble into ashes around you before you even consider pressing ‘eject’."~Marco Rossi/Echo Dorset UK (June 2008)

"There’s a definite nod to Aimee Mann"
~Americana UK (July 2008)

"Not since the days of Karen Carpenter has there been such a crystal pure voice, seductively enchanting as it leads the listener from one journey to the next. A world traveler, Ledoux captures the essence of her soul's desires combined with observational experiences in another stunning collection of songs that is sure to delight her current fans, and draw in new ones..."
~Wade Phillips - Outlaw Magazine/Nashville, TN

"Christene is a strong lyricist, and from the reflective ‘For My Roses’ through to the direct and clear message of ‘Dear Mr President’ (which also sees Eliza Gilkyson helping out), she paints vivid pictures in her songs, throughout the disc she’s both thoughtful and direct and often gives the listener much to consider. An independent storyteller in the true sense of the word, her songs are glimpses into the sights, sounds and stories of her own experiences and the lives of the people populating her tales.
The experience of an established producer has given a new edge to the songs and the quality of the instrumentation and production means that this disc deserves to find a wide audience across both Europe and the US."
~Neil Pearson of Fish Records (UK-June 2008)

"...beautiful...a feel of Nanci Griffith."
